        The Shifting Ice Shop

        Through our commitment to community capacity building, cultural preservation and cross-territorial collaboration, we aim to celebrate the diversity and richness of northern art and goods while nurturing pathways for both artistic and personal growth. Our social enterprise aims to support vibrant makers and promote lifelong learning through skill development in and across Canada’s North.

         

        Proceeds from sales go directly toward northern makers and Shifting Ice’s community-centered learning initiatives.

        What are the Shifting Ice Shop’s objectives?

        To nurture artistic expression and the development of literacy skills that will ensure an enduring legacy of Northern artistry for generations to come. 

        To empower Northern makers by showcasing their products in the national market, providing increased opportunities for visibility, economic growth, and cross-cultural exchange. 

        To redistribute profits from sales back into literacy and skill development workshops across the Territories

        To promote life-long learning through creative activities that teach useful and transferable skills.

        To develop partnerships across Canada’s Territories that support local makers with training, resources, and online selling tools.

        Every purchase you make through the Shifting Ice Shops directly supports literacy initiatives in Northern communities.

        Yukon: Proceeds from sales go directly toward northern makers and supporting YLC community-centered learning initiatives.

        NWT: 100% of the proceeds of the Shifting Ice NWT Shop go toward supporting the NWT Literacy Council’s charitable mission and programming.

        Nunavut: 100% of the proceeds of the Shifting Ice Nunavut Shop go toward supporting Ilitaqsiniq’s charitable mission and programming in Nunavut

        Long distances and limited shipping options can make rates from the Territories higher than average.

        Your item(s) should arrive within 21 business days from date of sale. We appreciate your patience as your package makes its journey from the North!

        As all items are unique and handmade, all sales are final with no returns.

        If your item is damaged in transit, please contact the shop from which it was purchased.

        Each Territory stores and manages its own inventory, which means purchases (and carts) are linked to the territory that the items are from.
